ARAFMI
ARAFMI offers mutual support groups, information, library, telephone support and home-based outreach support. ARAFMI's Mission Statement is:
To provide mutual support for families and carers of people with a mental illness, including interventions such as information, counselling and support.
ARAFMI is there to let you know that you are not alone and that there is help out there for you. ARAFMI helps you to:
- cope with the realisation that someone you love has a mental illness.
- increase your knowledge and understanding of the various mental illnesses.
- establish reasonable boundaries and strategies enabling better self-care.
- become involved in a social network of people who understand the problems you are experiencing.
- discover your rights under the Mental Health ACT.
- hear qualified speakers on relevant topics.
- seek appropriate professional help.
- be represented as a group on Government planning committees, taskforces, etc.
ARAFMI has memberships and newsletters for a small fee. Some states also offer different age group support. Learn about the services that are offered in your state below.
